Class 40 Racing

Dream or Two Sailing are uniquely offering racing opportunities on board our Class 40 racing yacht, “Fortissimo”. We will be competing in a number of official Class 40 races over the coming years, as well as RORC Channel races, the Volvo Round Ireland Race and Rolex Fastnet. Minimum experience levels to race are RYA Competent Crew or equivalent. From that point we will train you how to get the most out of a high performance racing yacht. You know how to sail, now take it to the next level.

Until now this type of sailing has only been available to dedicated privately funded and professional race teams, now we are offering the chance for you to take part in world class offshore racing. Fortissimo is an Akilaria RC-1, launched in 2010, designed by Marc Lombard and ready to race.

Rolex Fastnet Race 2017

The famous biennial Rolex Fastnet Race is the most challenging of the Royal Ocean Racing Club (RORC) races. The 608 mile course stretches yachts and crew to their limits.

From the start line at Cowes approximately 250 yachts head along the south coast to Lands End before striking out into open ocean and aiming for the Fastnet Rock on the southern coast of Ireland.

We only have space for five committed, passionate and enthusiastic sailors so book early to be part of this iconic race. This is always a popular event so book early and be part of what will be a life changing experience!

RORC Racing

If you can’t commit to an entire race campaign then competing in individual Royal Ocean Racing Club (RORC) races could be the ideal way to develop skills and experience. Each race requires one day of training as a team, to make sure everyone is as prepared as possible for the manoeuvres we will be doing under race conditions.

Minimum requirements are that you are at least RYA competent crew level and reasonably fit as the races aim to be around 25 hours there, plus the return trip. (The race officer does not necessarily set a direct course!) The training day will happen the day before the race, and will involve intensive sail training, learning the boat, sail handling and safety routines. You will be an active member of the crew, there are no passengers!

Round the Island Race 2017

One of the highlights of the sailing year – and you could be with us on the start line! We will be starting with the other high performance monohulls, rubbing shoulders with the worlds elite sailing teams. Experience the thrill of sailing at high speed around the Isle of Wight.

During your race weekend you’ll get to train with the rest of the crew and learn about racing a Class 40 yacht. You’ll then get to enjoy everything this fabulous event has to offer including the festivities after the race itself.

Volvo Round Ireland Campaign 2018

The Round Ireland Race starts and finishes at Wicklow and is one of the classic offshore races. Slightly longer than the Fastnet, at 709NM, you simply leave all Rocks and Islands of Ireland to Starboard, the race has a good mix of offshore conditions on the West coast, and more sheltered tactical tidal conditions on the East coast.

The race is ideal for a Class 40 like Fortissimo as she is designed as a fast offshore racer, but with good all round abilities to cope with the varied conditions that will be experienced on a race around an island.

We only have space for five committed, passionate and enthusiastic sailors so book early to be part of this challenging race. It will be a life changing experience!
