Round The Island Race 2018

Unfortunately this year the Round the Island Race clashes with the Volvo Round Ireland Race, so we will not be entering, but we will be back for 2019!

There will be over 200 yachts on our start line, all jostling for position; it’s an amazing-once in a lifetime experience!

Join us for a day of training prior to Race day to enable you to be fully involved as a crew member. This will include hoisting and flying the spinnaker, as well as brushing up on your Rules of the Road, to ensure we make it safely round the course.

Don’t forget your cameras for this event; it’s the equivalent of the London Marathon on water!

Race Day is Saturday 23rd June 2018. You  join us for 3 days to include a training day on Friday, the race on Saturday, Cowes race village in the evening and cruise back to Gosport on the Sunday.

Two of our RYA instructors are always onboard (one as skipper and one as tactician). We also have a first mate onboard who will ensure you are well looked after.

You will learn so much about the finer points of sailing and racing- as well as having great fun. In 2017 we finished in under 7 hours, an excellent time to beat this year!

You arrive on Friday morning for a day on the water preparing and training for the race, including sailing with the spinnaker. We then head to Cowes early on Saturday morning ready for our start. We encourage you to be as involved in sailing our yacht as much as you want – with time for you to take photos too!

With fair winds and tide, we aim to cross the finish line mid afternoon. We then head back into Cowes for celebrations with the other competitors.

Saturday night is spent at Cowes and we then return to Gosport on Sunday after a sail in the Solent, arriving mid afternoon.

See our FAQ for details on what is included.

The cost of the three day Round the Island Race Weekend onboard a high performance Class 40 racing yacht is £795 (training day, Race day and cruise day from Cowes to our Marina in Gosport).
Race entry fees, mooring, use of waterproofs and home made food onboard is included for the three day race experience.

  • What our Clients say
Very well organised. Yacht well appointed. Crew all lovely and made us feel a part of the whole experience- explained everything as they went along and gave us a real insight into the skill of racing.

  • What our Clients say
The communications, the yacht, the team and of course the food were all excellent. I particularly appreciated the fact that a pillow was provided. It is these small, thoughtful things that make the difference.
